I do not collect LEGO® minifigures, just collect them. Anyway, I need a display case. This is my version.
In the previous version I strengthened the side columns considerably, but the corner column was left without a central unifying axle. It's all about using regular bricks and plates that don't have an axle hole.
I could have used round versions of these pieces, as in the side center columns, but that would have disrupted the overall design. So I decided to use the rarer parts, "6236949: BRICK 2X2 W/GROOVE A.CR.HOLE" and "6325254: DESIGN PLATE 2X2X2/3, NO. 1". Both are square shaped and with the axle hole.
And since the axle hole is now available at the full height of the corner column (as opposed to the side center column), you need to use a 7 length axle here. In this case, as in the previous case, the axle does not fit completely into the column. However, no extra tricks are required - if you align the axle with the bottom edge of the lower brick, the extra axle part will fit into the empty cylinder between the studs of the part "4243831: PLATE 4X4" at the top.
